Hello Ww2censor. Thank you for making yourself available to talk about potential image deletion; my apologies in advance if I'm doing any of this incorrectly. I recently asked a question on the Media Copyright Question page about an image I'd uploaded in December, one that is currently up for deletion. The image is here: File:Raised by swans in concert, Bamberg, Germany, 2015.jpg. I am not the creator/owner of the image, but a release email has since been sent from the creator/owner. I believe the problem is that the image was uploaded twice - once to Wikipedia, and once to Commons (my error entirely, but one made in good faith). But I'm stuck now as to what to do, and one of the answers on the Media Copyright page suggested I get in touch with you (this is what it said: You can also post a message at c:User talk:Ww2censor since Ww2censor is the OTRS volunteer who did review the Commons file. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:40, 14 January 2021 (UTC)). Here's the gist of what I'd asked regarding the image. If there's any way you could clarify what's still going awry, and how it can be fixed, I'd very much appreciate it: I originally uploaded File:Raised by swans in concert, Bamberg, Germany, 2015.jpg with permission from its creator/owner (it has been posted with his permission on the artist's official website for the past four years at https://raisedbyswans.com/?p=1530), but did so without understanding that express written permission must be supplied by the creator. My sincere apologies for this. I've done my best to rectify the situation - the image was re-uploaded and a release email sent by the creator/owner to permissions, but clearly we're still missing something, as the image has been flagged once again for deletion. The creator/owner is a German photographer, Stephan Obel, who sent the appropriate copyright release email from his email address. He released it under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International license via this email on December 14th, 2020. A copy of Stephan Obel's email is below. Can someone let me know what we're missing in terms of proper procedure? I'm wondering if the underscores in the file name in his email versus the file name on Wikipedia Commons are what's causing the problem.
Thank you in advance for your help, Ww2censor. 19:17, 13 January 2021 (UTC) Hedinsfjordur (talk)
- Hedinsfjordur: As I already wrote on the MCQ page, all I can tell you is that I looked at the ticket and another OTRS agent is dealing with this and has asked questions that have not been addressed. I have nothing to add to that and due to the privacy restrictions of the OTRS system I cannot tell you anything else. I suggest you inform the person who is writing to the ticket to respond if they want to try and get this image verified. If they agree to include you in the ticket's emails to the ticket, then you would be kept abreast of what's happening.
- The enwiki duplicate w:File:Raised by swans in concert, Bamberg, Germany, 2015.jpg will be dealt with when the OTRS verification is closed. You could nominate the enwiki file for deletion yourself as the correct place for this image, if it kept or not, would be on the commons. There are other instructions on the enwiki file. The underscores are not an issue. Ww2censor (talk) 00:15, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
Notification about possible deletion
Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.
If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

I can apologise, but I won't
Hi, Happy New Year. For several months I have been running a script which has downloaded Colnect's users' scans of stamps. I got the best quality that they have available, it is not awesome, but a great start for many countries which are underrepresented so far. The total number of downloaded stamps is around one million, equaling about 81 gigabytes. Yesterday I have began uploading those, which are in public domain, to Commons. I see that I have already caused an overrun to your gallery of new philatelistic uploads, it was not my intention to make monitoring these uploads more difficult than it needs to be, but I will not apologise, since it is my opinion that what I am doing is a good thing overall.
I cannot really throttle the upload down, since doing so will mean that the upload will run even longer than the download, and at this moment I have not implemented stop, pause, restart functionality into my upload scripts; meaning that once I begin uploading a country it is difficult to stop without having to do lots of shuffling files around once I want to go back to uploading. I will probably do something like that a bit later, but that will not be for the benefit of making the uploads slower, but rather to speed them up even more, as that would mean that I'll be able to do uploads in short bursts, knowing that I can stop at any time.
Please do not be angry at me, no harm is intended. ℺ Gone Postal (〠 ✉ • ✍ ⏿) 11:26, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
- Gone Postal: Hi, I think your post title could have been more tempered but I'm not angry at all at your extensive uploads. It's great work. I have no problem with you uploading lots of stamps however there are a few problems you should address if possible before doing any more uploads. Your recent "Stamps of Abkhazia" were all categorised in the parent category Category:Stamps of Abkhazia when there are actual year categories Category:Stamps of Abkhazia by year and as the stamps are dated, you should have been able to categorise them correctly by year. I have recategorised those around 600 Abkhazia stamps correctly into their year category and made categories that were missing. The "Stamps of Afghanistan" you uploaded all appear to have been categorised into their correct year categories, so all the 1 January uploads now seem ok. If it is possible please ensure in future your categorisation is correct as it took me quite some time, even using the VisualFileChange.js "Perform batch task" feature to move them. Ww2censor (talk) 00:33, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
- I wanted to first write that I am sorry, but then I do not like to lie when it is not needed. I really have done as much as possible to make it as beneficial to all. I have already altered the way I am uploading after realising the error of uploading to the parent category (I am sorry for making you spend time on Abkhazia stamps). Unfortunately this means that I have to create lots of empty cats ahead of time, but that is not too bad I hope. ℺ Gone Postal (〠 ✉ • ✍ ⏿) 04:07, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
- Gone Postal: Well if you review at the next message from Magog the Ogre's OrgeBot you will see your uploads are overwhelming the bot's ability to do it's job due to too many uploads when it's absolute limit is 6,000. As I do not know what you will be uploading, I have no idea which categories to exclude and can't ask for exclusions and additions every few days because it takes a few days to implement any changes. Maybe you can reduce the upload quantity to only upload about 5,500 per day or less to allow space for other image uploads. Otherwise my gallery will be deleted and I will then actually be very angry about that. Based on this report, any images I looked at seem to now be in their appropriate year category, so you have fixed that problem by pre-adding categories. I could ask User:Magog the Ogre to exclude Category:Stamps but that would defeat the whole purpose of the daily gallery of new uploaded stamps. Can you propose another solution other than reducing your daily upload quantity? If you don't, then I'm royally screwed. Ww2censor (talk) 16:38, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
- I understand you, and I value the gallery that you maintain as well. Let's think about it. Technically I could put a 15 second delay between uploads, it would be trivial to do in a script and would mean that I would be uploading less than 24*60*60/15=5760 files (and since the upload itself also takes time, we would be talking about a number that can go down, but cannot go up. However, it took me more than half a year to download all of these, and the colnect site placed a delay of 10 seconds per stamp, regardless if the stamp has 1 or 2 files. Which means that this solution would mean that there would be many negative emotions from my end. If there is a way to do a regex blacklist, I can guarantee that all the images are in the format: "Stamp_of_.+_-_\d{4}_-_Colnect_-_\d+_-_.*.jpeg". I am also willing to provide you a listing of all the file names that I have downloaded if that is useful, I do not think that it will be of much help, especially if I will have to rename something because some character doesn't want to be uploaded, but I am willing to do so. If that is not possible, I can apply a random category or a template to the description, I do not think it is very useful, but it could be done. However, the way you said it sounds like the bot uses whitelist only and you can simply remove the category from the whitelist rather than adding something to blacklist it. For now, I will temporarily apply the limit of 15 seconds later on today (later on, since today I have already overflowed the limit and much as well get as much done as possible). P.S. You are correct, I have been sed-ing descriptions before putting them up for upload now, to make sure that they get categorised by date in the more standard way, I really should have thought it out better. I have also managed to do a more or less reasonable detection if the stamp is an anniversary and to place them into a correct category. I don't think I will be risking autodetecting many other categories, the chance of doing more harm than good is way too likely. Respect! ℺ Gone Postal (〠 ✉ • ✍ ⏿) 17:16, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
- Gone Postal: I do't know if you saw this request. Please stop your uploads for now until I figure out what to do based on the advise I get which you can watch at User:Magog the Ogre#Gallery overflow. Knowing the file names or applying a random category does not help if the uploaded images fall in any of the Stamps category sub-categories though I have a few exceptions. As I wrote, I've asked Magog the Ogre for advise on this so waiting a few days, or reducing the upload down may work for now but let's see what he says and hopefully we will reduce the negative emotions at both ends to a minimum. You could add a post to my discussion re the regex blacklist on Magog the Ogre's talk page as I have no idea on the front. Ww2censor (talk) 17:31, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, let me upload 20th century of Indian stamps, I should be done shortly. After that I won't slow down, I will stop uploading until we can figure out how to proceed further. It is not a permanent solution, but a temporary one. Hopefully within a day or two we'll find a way to go forward in the way that everybody is happy. At the end of the day we want to improve Commons, and as long as that is the final goal we can find a consensus. ℺ Gone Postal (〠 ✉ • ✍ ⏿) 19:07, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
- Gone Postal: Well that's not the sort of cooperative response I expected. I politely asked you to stop uploading until Magog the Ogre gets back with their advise but you refused. If you bull ahead, as your post suggests, then you will force his OrgrBot to delete my gallery request and you will have screwed me over pretty well. As an aside, perhaps you don't realise that User:Materialscientist has already been uploaded many freely licensed stamps, especially India. He has a list of the public domain stamp countries here that he has or is working on: User:Materialscientist#Stamps but I don't recall what or how many and certainly not as many as you. BTW, how do you account for duplicate uploads from Colnect? Ww2censor (talk) 23:32, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

- I think that we need to calm down a little bit and chill. Your last post suggests that you have not read what I have written. When I have said "After that I won't slow down" I have immediately followed it with "I will stop uploading". I have in fact stopped. If you check my upload log you will see that there have been no uploads on the 4th of January (UTC), so I have kept my word. I have stated that I am unhappy with the solution, but I understand why it is necessary at this moment. Let me repeat: I have already stopped uploading. At this point I am waiting for you or Magog the Ogre (or somebody else knowledgeable enough) to propose the solution that is reasonable to all parties. ℺ Gone Postal (〠 ✉ • ✍ ⏿) 05:30, 4 January 2021 (UTC)
- I did indeed read you post and understand clearly what you stated so there is no need to chill. Unfortunately you did not stop soon enough as the 2nd message below from OgreBot verifies you in fact uploaded over 11,000 files. As you have now stopped, for which I think you, I hope Magog the Ogre comes back to me soon on this problem.
- As you know, I asked you about dealing with duplicates and noticed all the duplicates of this file File:Stamp of Finland - 1941 - Colnect 821823 - 2 - Carl Gustav Emil Mannerheim as Field Marschal - back.jpeg as shown in the "File usage" section. Also several images in this category Category:1941 stamps of Finland, while having different titles they are in fact identical images. Normally when you upload an image we already have, you might get an error message, but I don't know if your script can handle that. Obviously we only need on example of an image and currently on the first page this list Special:ListDuplicatedFiles which shows just 500 entries, 163 files you uploaded have duplicates, some with multiple duplicates as many as 212 duplicates of File:Stamp of India - 1882 - Colnect 508682 - 2 - Queen Victoria - back.jpeg. You can view additioanal 500 entries and there are many more entries of your uploads, such as #1291-1495 which is another 200 and that seem to be the total of the 5,000 that page can cache. In total you have probably uploaded 1,500 or so duplicates so for though I have not checked thoroughly. This may turn out to be a serious problem and needs to be addressed because it just gives other editors unnecessary work to do and I don't think there is a bot to do that. Ww2censor (talk) 13:04, 4 January 2021 (UTC)
- Ok. I, in all honesty, do not understand where this conversation is heading now. You have said "I politely asked you to stop uploading [...] but you refused". I first thought that you have simply misread what I have said, but now you are saying that you have understood that I have stopped. You have asked me to stop not in the morning, but in the evening (UTC), and pretty much all of those files have been uploaded by then. When I have noticed your request I saw that I was uploading stamps of India, I went to check how many files were in there, I noticed that it had a large number of files of 21st century and that the script was running through the last quarter of 20th. When you run a bash script which calls python which calls its own libraries it sometimes responds differently to Ctrl+C interrupt depending on what millisecond you press that combination, and since I wasn't sure if python would still partially complete a file or several files while being told to die I have gone and moved all the files ahead of the upload to a different directory. This is what my comment about 20th century was all about, maybe I needed to explain the whole process... but now you say that you understood everything anyhow. So I do not understand how anything which I have done could be classed as a refusal: You ask me to stop, I do my best to stop as soon as possible without leaving files half uploaded or uploaded with no description or something similar. In retrospect I think I could have finished 21st century without it spilling out to today's uploads, and since the script does seem to have a hard cap, which was tripped by that time already there would be little harm in that; however, I was afraid that the script would somehow restart itself, or do something else weird... or Magog the Ogre would be using a different timezone than UTC, so I was double extra cautious. So I fail to see the merit of the accusation. P.S. I am thinking about what to do with the back of stamps, I saw your comment. ℺ Gone Postal (〠 ✉ • ✍ ⏿) 14:14, 4 January 2021 (UTC)
- Gone Postal: The problem may well have been the time lag between our posts and when your script is or was working and the time OgreBot starts or stops their work. None of which I can tell and as you say it seems your upload was already in process when I posted, so that is likely what you see as a misunderstanding. I saw and see that for now you have stopped, so there is now no issue. I also see you have proposed several possibilities of dealing with the daily upload quantity on Magog the Ogre's talk page. That's highly cooperative of you and I realise you are being "double extra cautious". Have you given any though to the duplicates issue yet? Thanks. Ww2censor (talk) 14:29, 4 January 2021 (UTC)
- Ok. Regarding duplicates: As I can see the duplicates come from the back of stamps files. That is because those backs are often shared between stamps. If I were to restart uploading right now, I would move all the backs to the separate directory and wait for a good solution to come to mind. I am quite upset by the fact that they have been deleted, I disagree with the fact that they are the same, despite the fact that they are pixel-perfect copies. The analogy is that there are two letters: O and О, one is Latin and one is Cyrillic, the fact that in most fonts they look identical is irrelevant. That's the same here. However, there are several policies in place on this project that guard against uploading the same photo or video again and again, and I have no chance that backs of stamps would be made an exception to those. So although the solution needs to be found, I do not know what it would be. If you have an idea for a good solution, I would be interested to know what you think. ℺ Gone Postal (〠 ✉ • ✍ ⏿) 14:48, 4 January 2021 (UTC)
- I have no solution to offer though as you say you could upload them into a separate directory. I presume you mean on your computer. Maybe you mean to a separate category will not be in the "Category:Stamps" in order to categorise with later on. If such files are identical pixelwise, then surely they are identical, even if used as the watermarks of several different stamp issues, which is what I assume these images are of. For instance, Ireland has just two watermarks, "SE" and "E" and there would be absolutely no point in uploading more than one of each for all the stamps over the 50 odd years of issues. - Hello. While we wait for something to move forward, would you be against me uploading 2407 files in order to finish with India? If you ask me to wait, I will. But I thought that it would not overload anything, however, perhaps I am missing the negative effect of my uploads. ℺ Gone Postal (〠 ✉ • ✍ ⏿) 03:28, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- Anything up to 5,000 should be fine but please be aware that many Indian stamps have already been uploaded from Colnect. It appears that all the duplicates that were listed on the List of files with duplicates have now been deleted, but it does impose unnecessary work on administrators. I just happened to look at Category:1941 stamps of Finland where I see several duplicates you uploaded even some within the same minute and some even have the same title. I don't know what you are doing for that to happen and how to avoid it. Ww2censor (talk) 11:33, 10 January 2021 (UTC)

- Do you mind if I start uploading with maybe something like 60 second delay to see how things go? ℺ Gone Postal (〠 ✉ • ✍ ⏿) 19:25, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
- Gone Postal: That would be fine except the way OgreBot has set up my gallery pages at 30/31 runs per month, so your amount of images per day, at one bot run per day with your quantity, makes the page too long it errors. I already asked Magog the Ogre to change the setup but they have not done so yet. I'll ask again and let you know. Ww2censor (talk) 22:47, 24 January 2021 (UTC)

Hi Ww2censor, I see that you have added a tag to this file to say that you have received an OTRS e-mail concerning this file. Just FYI, to connect the dots: I addressed the uploader on his German WP user page and asked him if this is really a selfie, since the person in the picture is the person with his name (he does not have his account verified yet so theoretically it might be someone else, but let's assume that it's really him). - @87.150.14.40: I added the OTRS ticket number because an email was received by the OTRS Team for this image. Any discussion must happen within the privacy of the ticket with the responding agent. Such images require a permission statement directly from the copyright holder who is usually the actual photographer and not from the subject unless they can verify the copyright was transferred to them. Ww2censor (talk) 15:08, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- Sure, I am aware of that. I just meant to point you to the small conversation we had on that user's talk page.
- On a side note, since this is about a German musician and likely about a German photographer: Transferring the copyright is not even possible in Germany. --87.150.14.40 00:12, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
- I have nothing to do with this ticket, so please make your comments to the ticket if you are included in the ticket emails, otherwise there is no point in telling me anything about it.Ww2censor (talk) 00:57, 22 February 2021 (UTC)

- Cyphoidbomb: Don't you know what OTRS permission tickets are for? Because you are an administrator you should be familiar with the WP:OTRS process before tagging images such as this. See this. Ww2censor (talk) 00:49, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Ww2censor: I have already been apprised of my oversight by the person who declined the deletion nomination, but your condescending note many hours later is appropriately received. I'll leave it to your expertise at Commons to decide if this heavily processed image, which now looks like an illustration rather than a photograph, is appropriate for use across the greater global project. - Cyphoidbomb: Thanks for your comments but I can't disclose OTRS ticket details other than to say I was happy with the information and file provided by the author. I'm sorry you considered my post condescending but I was rather pissed at the post on my talk page and surprised that an administrator would tag this as a copyvio instead of first asking either the OTRS agent who added the permission or dropping a note at the Commons:OTRS/Noticeboard for a ticket review request. Anyway it's over now. Ww2censor (talk) 12:23, 22 March 2021 (UTC)

- Faraz 9184: All permission verification for such files as this one MUST be addressed through the OTRS system where all copyright status communication takes place. I only added the ticket number to the file because a ticket was generated for this file. You must respond to any questions asked there in the tickek system. This image has been` uploaded several times and deleted several times and now you have uploaded the same file using a different name as File:Humayun Saeed 1.jpg. You need to address the copyright status problem because uploading the same image again and again will just get you blocked. Ww2censor (talk) 21:51, 21 May 2021 (UTC)

Photo Julian Walder
Hi! I have just read that you still need a verification for the FREE LICENSE of the image of Julian Walder! Mr. Walder sent you both permissions with signature of himself as well as the one of the photographer from his Email: violin-julian.walder@kabsi.at. Today Mr. Walder wrote another email to you (OTRS) and to Andrej Grilc (photographer) that Andrej should sent his permission from his (photographer´s) email-account once again, so that it is verfied that the signature and the permission is really from him. So am I right, when the permission of the owner (Julian Walder) has to sent his permission to OTRS from his Email and the photographer (Andrej Grilc) has also to sent you seperatelly his permission from his own account? A signature from both and the declaration that this image has a FREE LICENSE sent by the owner was not enough? I hope this will work now as we had the permission since 14th of May! --Celklavio (talk) 14:57, 31 May 2021 (UTC)Celklavio
- Celklavio: I only happened to add the ticket number to the image File:Julian Walder - Wien 2020.jpg but have nothing to do with verifying or responding to the ticket: German speaking agent in dealing with it. However, let me point out some issues you may not appreciate. There is no time limit for verifying such media files; some take a long time and some are completed quickly. Also ownership has nothing to do with the copyright status of an image; that normally remains with the photographer and is valid until 70 years after their death. A permission from the photographer must come directly from that person's own verifiable email sent directly to the ticket but it appears the copyright holder has yet to respond and forwarded permission statements are not acceptable. I can't help you because everything takes place within the privacy of the permission ticket. Ww2censor (talk) 17:00, 31 May 2021 (UTC)

Colored version
I have made a colored version of Imperial Hotel. It has nothing to do with how it actually looked so it's a free interpretation from my side. You will probably have no use of it but I hope you don't mind if I upload it. Colored version. --always ping me-- Goran tek-en (talk) 17:50, 31 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Goran tek-en: Well that's certainly a bit of fun, though I suspect the overall colour tone is too yellow/brown for me to think of using it, when compared to this later street view from 1853 which seem to use either red brick or portland stone. Thanks for all the effort. Ww2censor (talk) 20:36, 31 July 2021 (UTC)
- I did look at that picture and took the lighter like Portland stone for the Imperial hotel. The other buildings I picked another more brick like scale, to make them apart from the hotel. --always ping me-- Goran tek-en (talk) 20:51, 31 July 2021 (UTC)
- I have now uploaded a colored version and adjusted the colors, Imperial Hotel, Dublin per 1850 directory-colored. --always ping me-- Goran tek-en (talk) 09:39, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

Christmas ink smear stamp
File:Christmas ink smear stamp.jpg If you look carefully, you will see that the image of this stamp is not an exact copy of the original stamp. It has a big ink smear on the top of the stamp image which makes it completely new object and therefore does not violate the Canadian stamp copyright. The image concentrates on an error on the stamp, not the stamp itself. The image of the ink smear is the primary object of this image not the stamp which only servers as a media on which the smear is depicted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stanianb (talk • contribs) 12:42, 23 August 2021 (UTC) Stanianb (talk) 12:32, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
- Stanianb: I never said this image is an exact copy of the original stamp, so please don't be trying to weasel your way around this by your claims. It IS a copyright Canadian stamp that has an ink smear at the top, so it is still a copyright Canadian stamp and not some completely new file designed by you. You are not the author of the stamp, so if, as you suggest, the only purpose is to show the ink smear and that is what is important to you, then just crop the ink smear and upload that. Please sign your talk page posts by adding three tildes, like this ~~~~, at the end of your post. Ww2censor (talk) 15:50, 23 August 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, the only purpose is to show the ink smear. I can crop it like you said but I still need to reference it to the original stamp so it would be clear to viewers where the smear locates and on which stamp.
- How can I do that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stanianb (talk • contribs) 18:33, 23 August 2021 (UTC) Stanianb (talk) 12:32, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
- Stanianb: Basically you can't, unless you show the whole stamp or a significant part of it, and that part is still in copyright. You should find a stamp that is in the public domain in order to illustrate the point. Please sign your talk page posts by adding four tildes, like this ~~~~, at the end of your post. - Here's the link to Wiki page: w:Postage stamps and postal history of Canada
- If you scroll down to the last image you will see the image a 2003 Canadian stamp featuring Queen Elizabeth with denomination crossed. What can you say about that?
- Here's another example: w:Queen Elizabeth II domestic rate stamp (Canada)
- Maybe I'm new here but I know how to do my homework. Maybe you should do too Stanianb (talk) 10:57, 24 August 2021 (UTC) Stanianb (talk) 12:32, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
- Stanianb: No rudeness thank you, but actually you did not do your home work fully. Did you bother to look at the actual file page? If so you would see that yes you found instances of Canadian stamps in wikipedia articles but hey are not freely licensed as commons requires. They have been uploaded to the enwiki under a very strict non-free policy that allow some stamps to be used ONLY in articles about the stamps themselves and not other articles. They cannot be uploaded to the English language wikipedia without complying with all 10 policy guidelines. See w:WP:NFCC. Please try to find a freely licensed example that shows something similar. This cannot be the only stamp in the world with this error. Ww2censor (talk) 11:14, 24 August 2021 (UTC)
- Let's talk about rudeness first. You said that I try "to weasel my way around".
- Merriam-webster website (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/weasel%20into) give
- "Definition of weasel into: to get into (a place or situation) by being dishonest, by persuading someone in a clever way, etc."
- So, basicall, you call me dishonest.
- I'm not an expert on copyright rules, but you claim that you are with 12 years of experience. So, who gave you the right to say that I try to "weasel" my ways?
- I'm waiting for the appologie from you. Stanianb (talk) 12:32, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
- Stanianb (talk) 12:05, 24 August 2021 (UTC)
- Stanianb: Trying to find any excuse to try wriggle any possible reason to use this image and keep it is, to me, to weasel your way around the issue. I've provided you advise and suggestions on this matter. You could of course write an article about the specific stamp but you would have to support it well with significant coverage by reliable sources in order to show its notability. Then you could probably use the image under the enwiki's strict non-free policy. If you are offended by my choice of word, I'm sorry but that's my opinion and just to be clear, I never said you were dishonest. What about this image? Ww2censor (talk) 14:26, 24 August 2021 (UTC)

Don't you understand, this is the one of the most amazing errors that exist in the World along with "Inverted Jenny". Look at the stamp yourself, The ink smear has perferct shape and locates right in the middle of the top of the stamp. The stamp shows birth of Christ and the smear appeares right above it like some kind of divine presence. At first glance, it migh seem it's part of the design. It's not just some ugly stain or missing color or wrong perforation. It has meaning. I want it on Wiki because I believe people should know about this curious error and not just several philatelists.
Regarding copyrights, I can see on Wiki many modern stamps, - it means they can be there. If it was copyright protected they won't be there. How they have to be uploaded, it's just technicalities which I'm as new user don't know yet. All I know if other modern Canadian Christmas stamps can be uploaded on Wikw, why mine can't. And please, stop using word weasel. Weasel means that I try dishonestly do something. I'm 52 years old, I'm Canadian citizen, I hold bachelor degree of Computer Eng. I work as a teacher. This "weasel" offends me. Please show some respect. You supposed to act professionaly. Stanianb (talk) 10:11, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
- Stanianb: I understand entirely this may well be a spectacular stamp error but the stamp is copyright and cannot be kept on the commons. Again you are wrong to say that such images you see onwiki are not copyright protected. Those other stamps are there because they are either in the public domain (on the commons), released under a free licence or comply with the strict non-free policy (on the enwiki) as I have already explained in detail. If you want to make some sort of case to keep this image you must make it at the deletion nomination page and not here because the closing admin will not be looking here for any possible reason to keep the image. I will not reply to any more of your posts because you are going around in circles and have plenty advise on how to deal with this issue. Ww2censor (talk) 10:27, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

Re-request review for File:SCP-087.PNG
The image originally located at File:SCP-087.PNG was actually non-compliant with Creative Commons, but was mistakenly assumed to be because Wikidot automatically populates a CC-BY-SA 3.0 footer at the bottom. It was reviewed in Special:Diff/406315650.
I have uploaded a new version of the file which is CC-compliant. This image was created to replace the original, non-compliant one. Consequently, I have marked the file as needing review again. You can see the licensing information at the bottom, at "‡ Licensing / Citation", with filename 087stair.png

Hello. This message is to inform you that a daily gallery in your userspace, User:Ww2censor/Recent philatelic uploads, has failed. Your gallery has a hard upper-limit of about 8000 files per day, while your gallery would have had 42532 files (including files already on the page).
This usually happens because a gallery is too broad, encompassing too many subcategories. Please review the logs here and request that a subcategory be excluded, or narrow your category choice(s).
Please make your request for removal within 4 days, or your gallery will be subject to removal.
Thank you. Magog the Ogre (via OgreBot (talk) 03:23, 23 July 2022 (UTC))

File:Spencer Dock Luas stop 2.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. Unexpected 2D Murals in Dublin result.
Per your !keep vote and reasoning the outcome of Commons:Deletion requests/2D Murals in Dublin comes as a surprise to me and possibly in contradiction of the result of Commons:Deletion requests/File:Savita Halappanavar mural, Dublin.jpg. I did ask the closer for an explanation and received a response here: Special:Diff/685667719. I open to people's thoughts but I'd thought I'd ask you first. I'm also aware this result perhaps brings Category:Painted murals in Bray Daly Station into an area of concern (but certainly not the more recent mosaic replacements). Mentioning this to Sarah777 as she may have involvement with File:IMG BrayStationMural5412w.jpg which is in that category set and extensively used, even despite the date discrepancy with the replacement mosiac!. I'd also note the paintings artwork have 3D surrounds and are integrated into the building. Thankyou. User:Djm-leighpark(a)talk 22:12, 29 August 2022 (UTC) User:Djm-leighpark(a)talk 22:12, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
- I broadly speaking have at least three ways forward on this. One is to request an undelete/review. A second is to nominate files in Category:Painted murals in Bray Daly Station for deletion. A third is to take it forward to Village pump copyright. I can request comments from the Vicipéid on any disucssion, maybe others on prior Ireland FoP discussions also whilst trying to avoid a Canvas, but the option of raising on the WikiProject Ireland on the English WikiPedia is not open to me. As I am looking at the Bray mosiacs/murals from other angles doing nothing won't quite work. Any thoughts? Thankyou. -- User:Djm-leighpark(a)talk 18:50, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
- I'm not really sure what to advise you but there are many examples of murals and graffiti in Irish photos, such as Category:Murals in Ireland including your Bray Daly Station murals and also Category:Graffiti in Ireland also several in Category:Unidentified locations in Dublin. which all seem to exist despite what User:Jameslwoodward says. I still maintain that in Ireland such files are allowable under FoP. If these have no "artistic craftsmanship" how have they been made by artists? Ww2censor (talk) 10:15, 31 August 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Skid Row 2022-Chuck Arlund.jpeg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

- Yann: It is waiting those 2 months for a response that has not arrived. It was "closed-no response needed". You might want to just delete it besides which it is not in use or nominate it for deletion. I'm not watching it anywhere. Ww2censor (talk) 12:08, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
